Separation of rubber and steel wires from waste tires

Dec 16, 2025

There are two types of steel wires in waste tires: one is the bead wire, and the other is the fine steel wire inside the tire body. Separating the steel wires from waste tires is a complex but crucial process, involving the coordinated operation of multiple steps and equipment.

First, pretreatment (extracting the bead wire): Waste tires need to be cut into 3-5 cm rubber pieces using specialized cutting equipment, while separating the bead wire in preparation for subsequent use.

Secondly, rubber block grinding (separating fine steel wires in the tire carcass): The decomposed waste tire rubber blocks are fed into a rubber crusher for crushing and grinding to produce rubber powder while separating the fine steel wires. The steel wires are separated from the material using the magnetic field of a magnetic separator.

Processed steel wire can be recycled as a renewable resource, used to manufacture new metal products or as raw material for steelmaking. This not only helps reduce resource waste and environmental pollution but can also bring certain economic benefits to enterprises.
